Why I Hosted a Lunch for Austin's Top Female Real Estate Agents

I'm Cynthia Mattiza, Associate Broker with Kuper Sotheby's International Realty, serving West Austin, Bee Cave, Westlake Hills, Lake Travis, Lakeway, Spicewood, and the greater Texas Hill Country. After 16 years in this business, I've learned that the best relationships in real estate rarely come from a networking event. They come from a table.

How the Lunch Started

It started with a text.

I reached out to a handful of agents I admire across the Austin real estate market and told them exactly that: you inspire me. No agenda, no pitch. Just an invitation.

I curated a small, intimate group, intelligent, driven, and genuinely fun women in this industry, and invited them to lunch. The goal wasn't to network. It was to connect.

Who Was in the Room

Michele Hendrix (eXp Realty), Courtney Fluitt (Compass), Lis Bujolouian (eXp Realty), and Chloe Chiang (eXp Realty) all said yes. Four different brokerages, one shared commitment to doing this business well and doing it with integrity.

What We Talked About

We talked wins. We talked failures. We talked about who inspired each of us to get into real estate in the first place, and who keeps us going now.

No filters, no highlight reel. Just honest conversation between women who've built real careers in a competitive Austin luxury real estate market.

The Line That Stuck With Me

My favorite moment of the lunch came from Chloe Chiang, who described her role in the industry like this:

"I'm the cheerleader in the room that you are not in."

She was talking about how she promotes other agents' listings and businesses, even when they're not there to hear it. No self-interest, just genuine advocacy. It's a small sentence that says a lot about the kind of agents Austin's Hill Country market is fortunate to have.

Why This Matters to My Business

As an Associate Broker who has built her business almost entirely on referrals, repeat clients, and multi-generational relationships in Bee Cave and the Lake Travis area, I believe collaboration between agents, not competition, is what actually serves clients well. When agents know and trust each other, transactions move faster and buyers and sellers get better outcomes.

We left that lunch inspired by each other's ideas. It won't be the last one I host.
